MILAN CLOSE TO REDONDO MOVE
The move is not to the liking of the Madrid public, but new president Florentino Perez thinks that receiving that amount of money for a 31-year-old is good business.
Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque has already stated that he did not want the player to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but he admits he cannot do anything to stop the transfer.
"Redondo is very important and I have defended to people that he is valuable to us," said Del Bosque. "Soccer does not understand how essential he is.
"He is important, the club and the player are the ones who have to handle this and they are the only parts of the deal, I cannot do anything."
The player himself does not really want to leave Madrid, but he does acknowledge that if Real do not want him then he has little option but to leave.
"I want to be in Madrid, of course I do," said Redondo. "But it is also certain that if the club does not want me it can undo me, I just do not know anything for certain."
Despite the uncertainty on behalf of the player, the deal now looks set for completion after Perez met with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani in Mallorca on Tuesday. The pair were looking to agree a fee, and Milan are hopeful of unveiling him at the San Siro before the weekend.
