FRENCH FANCY SORROWFUL SUKER

TOULOUSE are prepared to offer grief-stricken striker Davor Suker an escape route out of London, in the wake of his penalty miss in the Uefa Cup final shoot-out.

The Croatian forward, usually so deadly from inside the box, hit a post with Arsenal`s first spot-kick during their 4-1 shoot-out defeat at the hands of Galatasaray.

Clearly heartbroken at signing off from his time at Highbury in such depressing circumstances, Suker will now ponder his future after being told that Arsene Wenger will not be taking up his option on a second year on the player`s contract.

West Ham remain favourites to sign Suker, as they bid to link him up with his international colleague Igor Stimac, but Harry Redknapp has admitted that he may struggle to find the money to finance a deal for the former Real Madrid marksman.

Concrete interest has emerged from Toulouse, as they look to offer Suker an attractive move to the south of France. Other clubs from Europe have also considering signing the player, including Fenerbahce, but the French proposal will undoubtedly be worthy of some serious consideration.

Toulouse expect to tie up the signing of Rangers keeper Lionel Charbonnier next Wednesday, once he has completed a medical at the club.
