ROYLE DELAYS ANDREI PURSUIT

MANCHESTER CITY boss Joe Royle has shelved any plans to sign Andrei Kanchelskis, until he knows which division his side will be in next season.

City`s 1-0 win against Birmingham sparked wild scenes of celebration at Maine Road, but Ipswich`s subsequent win at Charlton, has ensured that Royle`s men must grab at least a point from their tricky trip to Blackburn on Sunday, before clinching automatic promotion.

Kanchelskis, currently back in favour at Rangers, has been strongly linked with a return to Manchester, after his dazzling spell at Old Trafford with United.

"I bought him at Everton," said Royle. "And he did fantastically well for me. In fact, one of my few regrets is that I didn`t try harder to keep him.

"But that was four years ago, and time has moved on. We have made no approach and, at the moment, we do not plan to make an immediate approach. We will look at things like that in the summer."

The Ukrainian international is reportedly available under the Bosman Ruling, and he has already expressed an interest in playing in Manchester again.
