RBK PROMPT CAREW AUCTION

ROSENBORG are ready to spark a transfer auction for John Carew, hoping that Premiership clubs Tottenham and Leeds join the chase for the Norwegian international.

RBK`s director of football, Rune Bratseth, is resigned to losing the abrasive attacker and he has confirmed a third club has now tabled a bid for the 20-year-old.

"Two clubs have earlier inquired about John Carew," confirmed the former Norwegian international defender. "On Tuesday, a third club contacted us, and they have the highest bid so far."

Borussia Dortmund and Valencia are believed to be the first clubs two clubs involved, while Norwegian press reports claim PSV Eindhoven are the new bidders, as they seek a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy and Aston Villa-bound Luc Nilis.

The player himself has admitted that he is becoming a little unsettled by all of the transfer talk, so soon after arriving from Valerenga.

"It is tough with all the speculation," said Carew. "I hope it won`t come to me going, but I suspect it will.

"I understand that Rosenborg want to get as much money as possible for me but, for my own sake, I want this settled soon. It takes a lot of my concentration, and I don`t like that.

"I want to do my best for Rosenborg as long as I am an RBK player," added the star, who only made his international debut against Egypt in November, 1998.

Spurs boss George Graham is expected to make a judgement on Carew at Wednesday`s Champions League clash with Dinamo Kiev, while Leeds are also in the market for a mystery striker.
