SPURS SIGN STRIKER
Non-league star Dave McEwen has moved across London from Dulwich Hamlet, the club that spawned Ian Wright, to Spurs in a deal that sees his former club host the aristocrats in a friendly before the start of next season.
McEwen, 22, played for Spurs reserves recently and did enough to earn a permanent contract for George Graham`s side. After arriving from Crawley Town, he has shone at Dulwich but it represents a major step up in class in moving to Spurs and he is likely to face a battle to become a regular in the reserves initially, let alone the first team.
"I was in shock," admitted McEwen. "I played in the reserve team game and they said, `Do you want to sign?` It`s always been my dream to play professional football so when the chance came along I had to grab it."
Director of Football David Pleat has denied speculation linking Panathinaikos ace Erik Mykland with a Bosman move to North London and he claims that the Leeds link with Steffen Iversen is "simply untrue."
