TAIBI HOME ON LOAN
Taibi was not in the squad for United`s trip to Rio but there is no suggestion that he will be leaving the club.
Speaking to the Daily Mail Taibi denied a split with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and claimed that United have recently turned down the chance to sell him back to Italy and recoup the £4.5 million they paid for him.
He said:"In the next 48 hours I should find out if I can move to a Serie A team until June. But make no mistake, I will return to Manchester.
"This could be the best solution for me. Mark Bosnich is a great keeper and has been playing very well, so it is right he is the first-choice now. However I need regular games to stay sharp. If all goes to plan, I will remain in Italy for six months, playing every week, and when I return I`ll be that much stronger."
Taibi said he discussed the idea with Ferguson last month. "He was very understanding, Ferguson spoke to me and treated me like he would his own son. He said he did not want to sell me but agreed that perhaps a loan spell could enable me to regain my form. He told me that he had complete faith in my ability and that I would always be welcome to return.
Ferguson has stood by the giant stopper after the £4.5 million signing from Venezia had teething troubles. Taibi said:"There was a team that wanted me and the club could have got back the money United paid Venezia last August, but Ferguson turned it down.
"It meant a lot to me that he would do such a thing since I know many have criticised my performances and it would have been an easy way out for him. Now it is up to me to repay his confidence."
