Sky Sports understands English coach Anthony Hudson has resigned from his position as Bahrain manager.

The 33-year-old was brought in to coach the Bahrain Under-23 team in March 2012 by Peter Taylor and he lead the country to their first-ever U23 title in the Gulf Cup of Nations, before being given the senior job last August.

Hudson has carried on his impressive work with the U23 team into the senior set-up, leading the national team to qualification for the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia.

The former Newport County boss has been earning a reputation as one of the brightest coaches around, having become the youngest coach to take the FIFA Pro Licence, and he has spent time studying the likes of Jose Mourinho and Marcelo Bielsa.

However, it appears that Hudson may be moving on after handing in his resignation, with the Bahrain FA yet to announce if they will accept.
