Robert Green - Queens Park Rangers
A sixth consecutive Championship clean sheet for the England international this weekend as Queens Park Rangers beat Yeovil 1-0 at Huish Park. Green was called into action early, making a smart low save as Joel Grant threatened to break the deadlock. The hosts continued to impress with Joe Ralls and Joe Edwards both spurning good openings before Green was on hand again with a sprawling save to deny Liam Davis' driving shot and spare QPR's blushes. Green remained at the centre of the action following the break as he made an outstanding double save to deny Ralls and Davis before Charlie Austin netted a penalty at the other to seal victory for Harry Redknapp's men.
Mustapha Dumbuya - Notts County
The Notts County right-back enjoyed a successful weekend as his side triumphed 2-0 at home to Tranmere Rovers in League One. The Sierra Leone-born defender made some crucial blocks as the hosts kept a clean sheet at Meadow Lane. Dumbuya went on to torment the visitors in the closing stages, charging down the right before laying the ball on for substitute Marcus Haber to seal the points from close range.
Scott Dann - Blackburn Rovers
Strikers Jordan Rhodes and James Vaughan topped the bill ahead of Huddersfield's trip to Blackburn but it was the defenders who took centre stage in a goalless stalemate. Dann was at the heart of a solid Rovers defence as Huddersfield's prolific Vaughan was kept at bay on Saturday. The centre-back also made strides forward as Gary Bowyer's men looked the more likely to find a breakthrough. The 26-year-old knocked down for Tommy Spurr, only for the ball to sail over the top before his own headed effort came close to winning the tie for Rovers after some neat interplay between Corry Evans and Joshua King.
Marco Cassetti - Watford
The Italian defender played an influential role throughout as Watford demolished Barnsley 5-1 at Oakwell on Saturday. Cassetti made few mistakes at the heart of a three-man Hornets defence as well as making strong advances. In the opening exchanges Cassetti flashed a header wide from a Lewis McGugan corner before continuing to threaten at set-pieces with a 32nd-minute header from another McGugan corner repelled by Luke Steele as Watford looked to edge further ahead.
Ritchie Humphreys - Chesterfield
The left-back celebrated the birth of his second child by scoring the winner in Chesterfield's 1-0 victory at Oxford. In a battle between the top two sides in League Two, Humphreys produced a fantastic display to lead from the back.
The 35-year-old broke into the box to meet Eoin Doyle's left-wing cross with a classy volley to guide home from 10 yards for his first goal since joining the club from Hartlepool during the summer.
Gary Jones - Bradford City
Bradford's player of the season last term produced another crowd pleasing performance as the Bantams won 1-0 against Gillingham in League One. Jones provided the defining moment of match in the ninth minute when he scored directly from a corner. The 36-year-old's curling effort from the left sneaked inside the front post of Stuart Nelson to give Bradford the only goal of the game at the Priestfield Stadium. Talismanic Jones put in the hard yards throughout as the Bantams retained their unbeaten run this season.
Andy King - Leicester City
King made a regal contribution for Leicester as he made his second start of the season in their 2-2 draw with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. The Wales international was pivotal at the heart of the Foxes' midfield as they came from behind to take the lead in a thrilling Championship clash. It was indeed King who put Leicester ahead as a loose ball broke to his feet, 30 yards from goal, and the midfielder fired a sumptuous effort into the top left hand corner, leaving Matt Gilks rooted to the spot.
Jesse Lingard - Birmingham City
The attacking midfielder netted all four goals on his Birmingham debut as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 in the Championship on Saturday. Lingard joined the Blues on loan from Manchester United last Thursday to bolster an attack lacking goals. The 20-year-old enjoyed a dream bow at St Andrews and wholly vindicated his selection as he fired Lee Clark's men to a 4-0 lead. Lingard ran riot, tearing from the Owls defence as he completed his hat-trick in the 33rd minute, before continuing to cause nightmares for Chris Kirkland in the Wednesday goal.
Mustapha Carayol - Middlesbrough
The Gambian winger caused chaos amongst Bournemouth's backline with a fantastic attacking display as the pair drew 3-3 at Riverside. The 25-year-old evened the scores on the half-hour mark as Middlesbrough case from 2-0 down, cutting inside before slamming home a stunning 25-yard strike. Carayol came close to doubling his tally in the second period, hitting the woodwork before wriggling his way down the right wing and drilling another testing strike towards the near post of Ryan Allsop.
Nicky Ajose - Swindon
The Swindon striker was one of the stars of a frenetic tie at the County Ground which saw the hosts beat Bristol City 3-2 in League One. The visitors took the lead in the opening 10 minutes but Ajose sprang into action as Swindon fought back, thundering into the box before angling a neat strike beyond Frank Fielding. With the game in full flow, the on-loan Peterborough forward completed his brace and drew the scores level at 2-2 when he found himself in the right place at the right time to finish after Nile Ranger struck the ball across the face of goal.
Pavel Pogrebnyak - Reading
Reading's Russian frontman made a fine return from suspension, bagging a brace in their 3-1 victory over Derby County at Pride Park. The striker was back in goal-scoring form as attention moved away from his dismissal for simulation two weeks ago. Reading were ahead in the 47th minute when a free-kick from Obita was headed down at the back post by Alex Pearce and Pogrebnyak hooked the ball in from inside the six-yard box. The 6ft 2in striker pounced again in the 62nd minute when McCleary's cross bounced off Russell for Pogrebnyak to sidefoot in from 10 yards.
