As we preview the new Premier League season, we pick out five questions for Man City.
What've they done in the transfer market?
New head coach Pep Guardiola acted quickly to bring in Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, although the midfielder will not be fit for the start of the season. Nolito has also arrived from Celta Vigo and Leroy Sane from Schalke, bolstering the attacking options.
With Vincent Kompany's fitness problems, Guardiola finally found himself a ball-playing centre-back, sealing a £47.5m deal to sign John Stones from Everton. It would not be a huge surprise if City spend again before the summer transfer window closes.
What does the manager say?
"We are going to play the way I like because I am able to convince players that this is the best way. It won't be easy because we need time, but we don't have time. This could be the biggest challenge because Manchester City haven't won as many titles as Barcelona or Bayern Munich, but the real challenge is to prove yourself."
What's the pundit verdict?
"When I look at Man City, it's the same as last year: if they can keep Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero fit they have a great chance of winning the title. The facts are they hardly played last year. They were massive underachievers, lacking the spirit you need to win the title. But I think, under Pep Guardiola and by signing John Stones, they'll win it this year."
What's your prediction?
Manchester City are the 9/4 favourites with Sky Bet to lift the Premier League title and they're 2/9 on to finish among the top four. Sergio Aguero is the 7/2 favourite to be the Premier League top scorer for the second time.
