Lyon held while Lille's unbeaten run stretches to 13 games

Lyon lead the way by six points after Saturday's action, but endured another wobble at home. Elsewhere, Monaco became upwardly mobile and Lille maintained their recent fine form. It is leaders Lyon, though, who were involved in the shock result of the night - only able to muster a goalless draw with lowly Valenciennes at Stade Gerland. While the reigning champions maintain a healthy advantage over their title rivals, they would have expected to take maximum points from a side who currently sit second from bottom in the table and have now failed to win in their last 14 outings. With few of the front-runners in action on Saturday, Lille were also guilty of missing an opportunity to push ahead of those around them. Rudi Garcia's side did stretch their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 1-1 draw at home to Lorient, but they remain towards the back of the European-chasing pack. Michel Bastos had given them the perfect start, handing them the lead after only eight minutes, but an own goal from Abil Rami on 35 minutes ensured the game would finish all square. Le Mans were among those to climb the rankings, securing a 2-0 success over Caen. Modibo Maiga (51) and Yao Gervinho (61) got the goals to help secure only a second win in seven games and lift the club into the top half of the table. Joining them in the upper reaches of the Ligue 1 standings are Monaco after Ricardo Gomes' side saw off Auxerre 1-0. Nikola Pokrivac grabbed the only goal game on 24 minutes, condemning the visitors to successive defeats and helping the hosts to back-to-back victories. Nantes were the other side to taste success this weekend as they secured a 2-0 win away at Le Havre. The result, courtesy of second half goals from Filip Dordevic (68) and David De Freitas (85), is their first in seven and helps ease their relegation fears. Meanwhile, in Saturday's late kick-off, Bordeaux failed to see off struggling Sochaux. Laurent Blanc's men were held to a goalless draw at Auguste-Bonal by a side that has won just once all season and currently occupies a spot in the bottom three. Bodeaux climb into fifth, ahead of tomorrow's round of fixtures, but will be concerned at having only taken one win in their last five.
