Defender poised to join Bundesliga strugglers
Hoffenheim defender Christian Eichner is looking forward to the prospect of first-team football ahead of a proposed move to struggling Cologne.
The 28-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he does not feature in the plans of Rhein-Neckar-Arena boss Ralf Rangnick.
Cologne therefore look set to complete a deal in the winter transfer window in a bid to help their battle against Bundesliga relegation.
And Eichner is happy at the thought of a move, telling Express newspaper: "I am a player of Hoffenheim and I have the desire to play in the first team.
"I regard Cologne as a great club. I am just looking forward to playing in the first team in the Bundesliga again."
Eichner is poised to agree a contract with Cologne that would expire in June 2011, but this deal would include an option for further two years.
