A late strike from former Leeds United winger Max Gradel allowed Ivory Coast to snatch a point from their Africa Cup of Nations Group D clash with Mali.

Mali took an early lead courtesy of a stunning half-volley from Wolves’ Bakary Sako after just seven minutes.

And they looked firmly on course for victory until St Etienne winger Gradel calmly slotted home an equaliser four minutes from the end.

The other Group D encounter saw Guinea play out a 1-1 draw with Cameroon in Malabo.

Benjamin Moukandjo put Cameroon in front after scoring direct from a corner on 13 minutes but a spectacular strike from Ibrahima Traore meant both teams had to settle for a point.

All four teams in Group D are level on two points after each recording 1-1 draws in their opening two fixtures.

Guinea play Mali on Wednesday, while Cameroon tackle Ivory Coast with the top two teams in the group progressing to the quarter-finals.
