Morecambe 1-1 Carlisle: Stalemate despite late penalty appeals
Saturday 7 December 2019 19:32, UK
Morecambe and Carlisle shared the points with a 1-1 Sky Bet League Two draw at the Globe Arena.
Both goals came in a four-minute spell after the break with the Cumbrians taking the lead after 46 minutes through Hallam Hope.
A long clearance caught out Morecambe defender Ritchie Sutton, who failed to see the threat of Hope and the striker slotted the ball past Mark Halstead.
The lead lasted only four minutes however as the Shrimps hit back almost immediately.
Aaron Wildig slashed at a chance in the box but the ball fell perfectly for John O'Sullivan who headed past Adam Collin from seven yards out.

Both sides went in search of a winner but the defences remained on top although Carlisle were denied what looked a clear injury-time penalty when Luke Conlan brought down Gethin Jones in the box only for referee Darren Handley to wave the appeals away.
The first half saw few chances.
Morecambe enjoyed the greater share of the early pressure but it was Carlisle who threatened early with Jarrad Branthwaite forcing Halstead into a neat save with a shot from 30 yards before the home keeper had to save sharply again from Mike Jones's right footer from just inside the box.
Morecambe's first chance fell for Wildig when he was teed up by Lewis Alessandra but could only shoot straight at Collin.
