Veteran goalkeeper Frank Rost has signed a one-year contract extension with Hamburg.
The 36-year-old will now remain with the Bundesliga outfit until at least the summer of 2011.
His current deal at the Nordbank Arena was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but he will now see out at least one more.
Rost had previously admitted that he would contemplate retirement should fresh terms not be forthcoming, as he was unwilling to join any other club, but is understandably delighted to have prolonged his association with Hamburg.
"I have always emphasised that I wanted to stay at HSV so I am happy that I can play another season in Hamburg," said Rost.
"This place has become my home."
Backbone
Rost, who has won four caps for Germany over the course of a distinguished career, joined Hamburg from Schalke in 2007.
He has become an integral part of the club's first-team plans since that point and coach Bruno Labbadia is happy to see the experienced shot-stopper sign on for another year's service.
"We are delighted to be able to extend Frank's deal by a further year," he said.
"He is not only a strong backbone for our game, but he also keeps our team together off the field with his personality."
