Columbus Crew ended a four-game losing streak as a late debut goal from Mike Grella secured a 2-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes in MLS.
The Crew opened the scoring after 28 minutes thanks to a 12-yard strike from Harrison Afful which found the top corner, but a Danny Hoesen header levelled the scores before half-time.
Grella, who came off the bench as he returned from a knee injury suffered at the start of the season, scored the winner in the 84th minute.
Defeat meant the Quakes have now gone six games without a win.
Alejandro Romero Gamarra scored in the 84th minute and Bradley Wright-Phillips added two assists as New York Red Bulls beat Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2.
Gamarra converted from the spot to snap a 2-2 tie after the Galaxy's Dave Romney was called for handball in the area.
Former Manchester United and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a hand in setting up both Galaxy goals.
Ola Kamara put away a through ball from Ibrahimovic in the 59th minute and Giovani dos Santos scored in the 66th after a Ibrahimovic corner to make it 2-2. The Galaxy have now lost three consecutive games at home.
Minnesota United managed to turn around their misfortunes with a 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo.
Minnesota looked to be on course for a fifth straight defeat when Houston's Alberth Elis took advantage of an open goal in the 10th minute.
Darwin Quintero levelled with a penalty five minutes before half-time, while Minnesota goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth kept his side in it with a fine save from Mauro Manotas in the 66th minute.
And Minnesota grabbed the winner in the 70th minute through Ibson.
A controversial goal from Teal Bunbury saw New England Revolution beat Sporting Kansas City 1-0.
Bunbury's effort just before the break was initially ruled out for offside, only for the decision to be reversed by the video assistant referee and the goal given.
Miguel Almiron and Kevin Kratz both scored twice as Atlanta United beat Montreal Impact 4-1.
Kratz netted with two superb second-half free kicks to help secure a come-from-behind win for Atlanta.
while Borek Dockal's first Major League Soccer goal in the 72nd minute earned Philadelphia Union a 3-2 win over DC United and Toronto FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Chicago Fire after Alan Gordon scored the equaliser in the dying seconds.
