Stand-in AZ Alkmaar coach Alex Pastoor insisted nothing had changed with regards to the position of Marco van Basten amid reports in Holland the head coach is to step down due to health concerns.

Pastoor has been filling in for Van Basten since September 3, when AZ announced the former striker was taking a break until September 14 for health reasons.

Reports on Friday suggested the 49-year-old will not return, but Pastoor, speaking ahead of their Eredivisie match against Van Basten's former club Heerenveen this weekend, said nothing had yet been decided.

"After the match against Heerenveen there will be a meeting of the directors, Marco and the club doctor," he said. "After that the club will make an announcement."

Van Basten, who was Holland coach at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008, joined AZ on a two-year deal in the summer.
