Brazilian centre-back Bressan is to stay at Gremio after a potential loan move to Queens Park Rangers fell through.

QPR have been looking to strengthen their squad ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline and were understood to be interested in the highly-rated Bressan.

Speculation had suggested that a deal was set to happen, but the 21-year-old confirmed after Sunday’s game against Bahia that he would not be going anywhere.

It is reported in Brazil that Gremio accepted QPR’s offer but the Premier League club pulled out as they did not feel they had time to finalise an agreement.

Bressan is now focused on continuing to play well for Gremio, having never expressed a desire to leave.

"I wanted to stay at Gremio, but of course the move didn't happen for other reasons,” he told Radio Gaucha.

“I still have a lot to do for Gremio and the club can do a lot for me."
