Ryan Giggs is yet to be offered a new role with Manchester United, Sky sources understand.
Giggs spent the last two years as assistant manager to Louis van Gaal, but his future at Old Trafford remains in the balance as the club prepares to begin life under new boss Jose Mourinho.
Sky sources understand reports that Giggs has been offered a role as a bridge between the first team and the U21s are inaccurate.
The United great, who made more than 1,000 appearances for the club, is due to return from a holiday in Dubai this weekend.
It is understood Giggs has heard nothing from senior United figures as to what they want him to do, following Van Gaal's sacking last month, with no meetings scheduled.
Giggs, who joined Manchester United on his 14th birthday, is thought to have a year left on his contract.
