Martin's Starting Stats

I was at Chelsea v Hull on Super Sunday. Hull were the very first visitors to Stamford Bridge in 1905 and they lost 5-1 and that was the first of 18 league visits to that ground and they still haven't won. Their record is P18 W0 D3 L15. They have only ever scored three goals there - including Peter Howe's goal in that first meeting. The others were by Gareth Roberts (February 1989) and Stephen Hunt (August 2009).

After 22 games this season there are 39 points between the two clubs. Chelsea have scored 47 goals and Hull have conceded the same number.

Gary Cahill scored his third Premier League goal of the season, which is already his best scoring season in the Premier League for Chelsea. He last scored three Premier League goals in the 2011/12 season (two for Bolton and one for Chelsea).

Diego Costa has scored in all four Premier League appearances he's had against Hull. It was his 100th game for Chelsea and he scored his 52nd goal. He has 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League this season.

Spot the difference

Arsenal always seem to concede goals from penalties. How many have they conceded this season and what's the highest number of goals conceded from penalties in a season? (Paul, Manchester)

MARTIN SAYS: If we talk about goals scored from penalties, Andre Gray's spot kick in Arsenal's 2-1 win over Burnley on Super Sunday means the Gunners have now conceded seven goals from penalties this season, the most the club have conceded in a season in the Premier League era. The previous high for an entire season was six in 2010/11.

Those penalties have only cost Arsenal four points this season - Harry Kane's in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham in November and Callum Wilson's in the 3-3 draw at Bournemouth earlier this month - but Arsenal are close to an unwanted record alongside Hull.

Hull have already conceded nine Premier League goals from penalties this season (they have had 10 penalties awarded against them), and just one more will see them break a league record.

Bradford (1999/00), Sunderland (2007/08) and Norwich (2015/16) all conceded nine goals from penalties, but no side has ever conceded 10 in a Premier League season before.

Furthermore, if Hull give away one more penalty this season it will equal the all-time Premier League record of 11 set by Blackburn Rovers in the 2006/07 season.

Striking stats

Has Diego Costa scored more than any other player in his first 100 PL games? (Jack, London)

MARTIN SAYS: Diego Costa hasn't played 100 Premier League matches yet, Jack. On Super Sunday, he scored his 47th league goal for Chelsea against Hull City at Stamford Bridge in 74 appearances. That's a goal every 1.57 matches.

The striker has also now netted 52 times in his first 100 matches in all competitions for the club, so maybe that's what you're thinking of.

If he maintains his current scoring rate then he will end up with the third best goals tally from the first 100 Premier League matches from any striker - around 64 goals.

He would still be behind the Premier League's all-time record goalscorer Alan Shearer, who managed an incredible 79 goals in his first 100 Premier League matches and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who managed 68 goals in his first 100 games.

Interestingly, of those currently playing in the Premier League, Man City's Sergio Aguero scored 64 times in his first 100 matches and Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane has 59.

So those are the targets for Costa to aim for - and Chelsea fans will hope he's around to play in 100 Premier League games for them. He would still need to be at Chelsea next season to achieve that.

Goals after first 100 PL games

Player Goals after 100 games
Alan Shearer 79
Ruud van Nistelrooy 68
Sergio Aguero 64
Andrew Cole 63
Fernando Torres 63
Robbie Fowler 62
Luis Suarez 62
Thierry Henry 59
Harry Kane 59

Away-day blues

Leicester have not won away in the league this season, but has a team ever gone a whole Premier League campaign without winning on their travels? (Sarah, Reading)

MARTIN SAYS: Leicester's 3-0 defeat to Southampton at St Mary's on Sunday was their eighth loss on the road in the league this season, while the champions have not won any of their 11 away games so far this campaign.

And that means if Claudio Ranieri's side fail to win any of their remaining eight league matches on their travels, they will become just the seventh team in Premier League history not to have won away from home all season.

Incredibly, a fellow title winner - Leeds United - were the first to suffer that embarrassment back in the inaugural Premier League season in 1992/93 when they played 21 away games, although Howard Wilkinson's men did manage to avoid being relegated.

Coventry City (1999/2000) also beat the drop despite not recording an away victory all season long.

But worryingly for Leicester, the last four teams to fail to win an away game all season were relegated.

Those teams were: Wolves (2003/04), Norwich City (2004/05), Derby County (2007/08) and Hull City (2009/10). It's worth pointing out that Burnley have also failed to win an away game all season and have just one point.

Helping hands

Where is Cesc Fabregas in the list of all-time assists in the Premier League? (Stephen, West London)

MARTIN SAYS: Cesc Fabregas came on to deliver for Gary Cahill's headed goal as Chelsea beat Hull 2-0 on Super Sunday, one of six goals he has assisted this campaign in only 13 appearances.

He now has 101 assists in total, and needs one more assist to overtake Wayne Rooney and go level with Frank Lampard, who is currently second in the all-time list.

He has a way to go to match Ryan Giggs, however, with the Welshman way out in front with 162 assists from his glittering Premier League career with Manchester United.

Most assists in Premier League history:

1. Ryan Giggs (162)

2. Frank Lampard (102)

3. Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas (101)

5. Dennis Bergkamp (94)

6. Steven Gerrard (92)

7. David Beckham (80)

8. Teddy Sheringham (76)

9. James Milner (75)

10. Thierry Henry (74)
