Jack Grealish has been recalled to the England U21s training camp ahead of the European Championships, less than two months after being dropped by manager Aidy Boothroyd.

The Aston Villa midfielder had been tipped to start April's friendly against Denmark but was then dropped after reportedly infuriating the boss by arriving late to a scheduled meeting, resulting in Boothryd opting not to start the 21-year-old.

But Boothroyd restored his confidence in Grealish, who represented the Republic of Ireland before switching allegiance to England in 2015, by including him among a group of 28 to attend the national football centre.

The Young Lions will spend five days together, training and focusing on the trip to Poland before the final 23-man squad is announced ahead of the competition, shown live on Sky Sports.

The get-together will give the boss an opportunity to assess his options for the trip to Poland ahead of the UEFA deadline on 6 June, before the selected group re-convenes at St. George's Park between 7 and 10 June.

Also included in the group is Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, one of the shining lights in what was a testing Premier League campaign for the newly-relegated Black Cats.

"We're really looking forward to seeing everybody again and things will start to crank up a notch," Boothroyd told thefa.com.

"It's good to get them all back in together, get re-focused and make sure we're prepared properly for the Euros."

Southampton pair James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond return to the U21s, having both earned their first senior caps against Germany in March.

"We've got players at different stages, we have lads who have played 40-game seasons who will need a different sort of conditioning to the guys who have played nine or 10 games," Boothroyd added.

"And we have players who have been coming off the bench and playing bit-parts for their teams and players who have played in different leagues as well, so we have a real mix in terms of fitness levels."

Squad: Gunn, Mitchell, Pickford, Wildsmith, Chambers, Chilwell, Hause, Holding, Holgate, Iorfa, Mawson, McQueen, Stephens, Targett, Baker, Chalobah, Grealish, Hughes, Loftus-Cheek, Swift, Ward-Prowse, Abraham, Brown, Gray, Murphy, Redmond, Roberts, Woodrow
