Georgia captain Kakha Kaladze is angered by Fifa's decision to move their World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland.
Saturday's game will be played in the German city of Mainz rather than Georgia after Fifa ruled it should not be staged in the war-torn country.
Kaladze feels the match could have gone ahead safely in the capital of Tbilisi and would have provided some respite for the Georgian people.
The AC Milan defender added that the Georgian players are considering wearing black armbands, just as they did for last month's 2-1 friendly victory against Wales in Swansea.
Dismay
"I and many of my team-mates continue to ask ourselves why this decision was taken," Kaladze said in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"It would have been a festival for thousands of people that are suffering."
Russia and Georgia fought a five-day war last month, and Moscow's recognition of two separatist Georgia regions as independent nations - South Ossetia and Abkhazia - has brought tensions with the West to their highest level since the end of the Soviet Union.
