FC Twente needed a late equaliser from Youness Mokhtar to salvage a 1-1 draw at Cambuur Leeuwarden on the opening weekend of the Eredivisie season.
Albert Rusnak put the hosts ahead after 13 minutes but Dutch-Moroccan winger Mokhtar ensured the Enschede outfit would not leave empty-handed by restoring parity two minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Marco van Basten enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory in his first match as AZ Alkmaar coach.
Steven Berghuis opened the scoring 11 minutes after the interval at Heracles Almelo, and further strikes from Guus Hupperts and Muamer Tankovic swiftly put the result beyond doubt.
FC Dordrecht hit back from a goal down to triumph 2-1 at Heerenveen.
