Luuk De Jong scored a hat-trick as PSV Eindhoven further strengthened their grip at the top of the Eredivisie standings after a 4-2 victory at AZ.

PSV appeared set for an easy night's work when De Jong scored twice in the opening eight minutes.

But Markus Henriksen halved the gap just before half-time and then Robert Muhren levelled matters shortly after the interval.

Georginio Wijnaldum put Phillip Cocu's men back in front in the 58th minute before De Jong sealed victory almost immediately afterwards.

That gave PSV a 15-point lead over Ajax, who could make a slight dent in that sizeable deficit when they face Twente on Sunday.
