Goals from Nemanja Gudelj and substitute Viktor Fischer earned Ajax a 2-0 win at home to Groningen and kept them at the top of the Eredivisie on Saturday.

Serbian Gudelj curled a low free-kick around the wall and into the bottom corner in the 23rd minute to open the scoring and Swiss forward Fischer's neat dinked finish after a fine solo run sealed the points with 10 minutes remaining.

Second-placed Heracles failed to recover from conceding two quickfire first-half goals as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat against AZ.

Markus Henriksen poked in the opening goal after 15 minutes and two minutes later, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw headed in a second from a corner.

Jaroslav Navratil made it 2-1 but Muamer Tankovic sealed the win with a fine solo goal after 81 minutes.

PSV kept in touch with a 2-1 win at home to NEC Nijmigen, with Luuk de Jong and Lurgen Jocadia scoring the goals. Christian Santos had brought NEC level from the penalty spot.

Utrecht came from 3-1 down to claim a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with 10-man Cambuur.

Nigerian Bartholomew Ogbeche put the visitors 2-1 up, with Willem Janssen having equalised for Utrecht early in the second half after good work from Sean Klaiber.

Sander van de Streek had seemingly made the game safe for Cambuur when he converted a cross from Marlon Pereira, but after Nacer Barazite had pulled one back, Cambuur found themselves reduced to 10 men.

Goalkeeper Harm Zeinstra brought down Kristoffer Peterson in the area and was sent off. Back-up keeper Leonard Nienhuis came on but could not prevent Janssen from levelling matters from the penalty spot.

On-loan Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke missed a sitter for Vitesse in injury time as they drew 0-0 at Heerenveen.
