Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are still in shock after they were confronted with the tragic news that the 15-month-old daughter of defender Kuffour died in a swimming pool in his native Ghana.
Bayern's squad were ready to take off to their Spanish training camp in Marbella on Friday afternoon when the 26-year-old defender was confronted with the tragic news that his daughter had been killed.
Kuffour has meanwhile rushed back to Ghana using the clubs' plane after being freed from training with the squad.
"All we know at the moment is that the child drowned while playing in the pool. We gave him off as long as he needs to cope with this devastating situation," explained managing director Uli Hoeness.
"This is a cruel stroke of fate for Sammy and the whole team is in shock. We will do all we can to help him," declared Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.
