German starlet signs new deal; Ferati out for five weeks
Young German prospect Christian Bickel has extended his deal with Bundesliga outfit Freiburg for another three years.
The 20 year-old midfielder only signed his first professional contract at the start of the current campaign.
Although he has yet to make his debut at first-team level, he has impressed head coach Marcus Sorg enough, having scored four goals in seven appearances for the reserves, to warrant an extension at the Badenova-Stadion.
Freiburg general manager Dirk Dufner told
Deutsche Presseagentur: "We have decided to sign a new deal with Christian Bickel.
"He's a talented midfielder and we are looking forward to watching him develop at our club."
Meanwhile, Sorg is set to be without defender Beg Ferati for a period of up to five weeks after sustaining a knee injury last weekend.
The 24-year-old Swiss international, who signed from Basel in the summer, picked up the injury during his league debut against VfB Stuttgart.
Dufner added: "Beg was unlucky. He injured his knee in the match the other week. He injured his knee and he is set to be out of action for five weeks now."
