AC Milan have re-signed midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng on a six-month contract, the club have confirmed.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth player left the San Siro to join Schalke in August 2013 but was suspended indefinitely by the Bundesliga club last May for a "lack of mutual trust".

Following his release by Schalke in December he has opted to rejoin the Rossoneri, with the sixth-placed Serie A side on Tuesday morning announcing his return on a deal running until the end of the season.

"AC Milan announce the signing of Kevin Prince Boateng, who has signed a contract until 30 June 2016," read a statement on the club's official website.
