Lee aims to be bigger than Becks

REAL SOCIEDAD'S new South Korean arrival Lee Chun-soo has set the ambitious target of proving himself a better signing than David Beckham this season.

The 22-year-old hit-man arrived from Ulsan Tigers during the close season for a fee approaching £2 million and is intent on making a name for himself in La Liga.

Lee's transfer has been big news in his homeland, and dozens of journalists have followed him to Spain to monitor his progress.

Now the gifted youngster wants to establish himself in what is widely regarded as Europe's best league.

"I want everyone to be able to see my qualities on the field of play," said the Korean ace.

"I will try to triumph in this league, something that will benefit both me and Real.

"My objective is to be a better piece of business than Beckham, so that people might say I was the better signing.

"I believe I can prove more economic than him and I will try to demonstrate that during the season.

"I can play in midfield or up front, but wherever I am I'm not a real centre forward. I have almost the same characteristics as Beckham.

"I believe I'm going to be capable of scoring many goals, maybe not as many as Kovacevic or Nihat did last campaign, but I will help the team a lot in that department."
