Zinedine Zidane hinted that Real Madrid could be in the market for new players in January after seeing his side struggle to a 3-2 win over Malaga at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Real were twice pegged back by their relegation-threatened visitors before Cristiano Ronaldo fortuitously sealed the win late on by scoring a rebound after seeing his penalty saved by Roberto.

The win has taken Real to within seven points of Barcelona who play second-placed Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday and Zidane admitted that his side found it difficult.

"In the winter market, there will be no exits but anything can happen in terms of arrivals, we will see," he said post-match.

"We started the game strongly, and managed to get the first goal which is always important, but they came back at us quickly.

"We got the second and then after the half-hour mark, we couldn't keep the ball. Possession is one of our weapons and we lost the ball too often today.

"The second half was tough. We're happy with the result because Malaga are a team with real character and at 2-2 with not long left, we managed to net the third goal. Some things were good, and others weren't exactly as we would have liked."

After winning their first La Liga title in five years in May, Real have struggled for consistency this season, drawing three times and losing twice from their opening 13 La Liga matches.

Real also finished second in their Champions League group after failing to beat Tottenham over two games and a lack of depth in the squad has been highlighted as a possible contributing factor.

Dani Ceballos and Theo Hernandez were the only major arrivals at the Bernabeu in the summer while squad players such as Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez, Danilo and Pepe were all moved on.

Zidane also has not been helped by injury problems this season with key players such as Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale missing significant chunks of the campaign.
