Luis Enrique refused to comment on speculation surrounding Neymar's future following Barcelona's 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.

Reports over the weekend claimed the Brazil forward is among Manchester United's transfer targets and that he might be open to a move to Old Trafford.

However, after Barca kicked off the defence of their La Liga title with a 1-0 win at San Mames on Sunday, Enrique said: "It doesn't interest me to talk about rumours, nor these types of situations.

"I only want to focus on what's happened to my team."

Neymar was not involved against Athletic as he only recently returned to training after being diagnosed with mumps.

However, Luis Suarez's 54th-minute volley gave the European champions all three points, just six days after their opponents had defeated them 5-1 on aggregate in the Spanish Super Cup final.

"Overall, I'm satisfied," Enrique told the club's website. "We created chances, a lot more than our opponents. Towards the end it got tough for us, of course, because the score was so close.

"The wing-backs were very good, especially Sergio Roberto, who came in unexpectedly and played a very complete match. Jordi Alba too."

Barca's win was marred slightly by injuries to Sergio Busquets, who was removed on a stretcher, and Dani Alves, with their website confirming the players will undergo tests to determine the severity of their injuries on Monday.

"We have to wait and see what the doctors say and see how the players come along," said Enrique. "Injuries are part of football, it's a very demanding sport and there is more risk (early in the season). They don't seem serious."

Match-winner Suarez added: "These games inspire us to win the league. We won the game and that's what's important, we had to wait for the right moment to create some scoring chances".
