Star looking for new club after Wolfsburg loan ends
Former Arsenal and Birmingham midfielder Alexander Hleb is training with Bundesliga outfit Augsburg, but the club admit he is unlikely to sign a playing deal with them.
Hleb has no future with Barcelona and is on the look-out for a new club after an injury-hit loan spell at Wolfsburg concluded at the end of December.
The 30-year-old is keen to maintain his fitness with the hope of sealing a transfer during the January window and will train with newly-promoted Augsburg until such a move arises.
"I am very grateful to Augsburg for allowing me to train with their team," Hleb told Sky Sports News.
"It is doing me good and I want to get fit quickly. Training with Augsburg is helping me a great deal."
Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay is pleased to have a player of Hleb's calibre train with his side but admits it is unlikely it will become a permanent arrangement.
"Alex has a contract with Barcelona and he certainly has different ambitions than to play for Augsburg," said the 48-year-old.
"I have no problems with him taking part in training though."
