Father reveals offers

Barcelona have snubbed three offers for their promising teenage midfielder Thiago Alcantara. His father Mazinho has revealed that La Liga trio Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Real Mallorca all tried to lure him from Camp Nou. The 19-year-old Thiago, who was born in Italy but is now a Spanish national, is the latest starlet to come off through the fabled Barcelona youth academy and his appearances in the first team have not gone unnoticed by rivals. "It is important for the boy (Thiago) that clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Real Mallorca are interested in him, but right now Barcelona don't want to talk to anyone," Mazinho said in Marca. "Sevilla were interested and the club (Barcelona) showed me the offers they had but I never knew how many years (the contracts) they were for, if they were four, five or one (year contracts). "Barcelona know he wants to stay here and continue his development. "It is normal that Thiago is a bit sad about going back to the second team but he is happy because he knows he is going to play. He has already shown that he can be there (in the first team) and has the confidence. "He didn't think about other things such as the arrivals of (Ibrahim) Afellay or other players and is working hard and waiting for his opportunity."
