Brilliant Brazilian pledges future to European champions

European Footballer of the Year Kaka has committed his future to Milan. The brilliant Brazilian was awarded the Ballon d'Or (Golden Ball) after taking 444 points in France Football's prestigious award. Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo was second in the poll, with Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi coming in third. While Milan would be loath to lose their talisman, Kaka has been persistently linked with a move to Spain and Real Madrid. For the moment, though, it seems he is content to remain in Serie A with the Rossoneri.

Hand of God

"I reiterate that my future is in the hands of God," said Kaka. "But my wish is to remain at AC Milan. "I believe to be already an important player in this team and I would really like to become the captain and the leader of this team. "It's a very special day for me, a very important day for my career and for all the Rossoneri fans. "The Golden Ball is an individual award and for me this is a dream come true. Today I really feel this recognition to be truly mine."
