Hot prospect told he has one last chance
Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier admits Hatem Ben Arfa could leave the club in January.
The highly-rated 22-year-old has failed to live up to his promising reputation following his switch from Lyon to the Stade Velodrome last year.
The French winger, who has been linked with Tottenham and Portsmouth, also had a bust-up with Marseille coach Didier Deschamps and has been criticised for his lack of work-rate and bad attitude.
However the young winger has recently enjoyed some impressive performances for the Ligue 1 side since taking advantage of talisman Mamadou Niang's shoulder injury.
Last chance
"Ben Arfa can benefit from the injury to Niang," Dassier told
France Football.
"This is his last chance. I have plainly explained this notion.
"Clearly, he is not committed enough physically. He does not do enough for the team, does not sweat enough for the shirt.
"If that is what Didier thinks, I cannot contradict him.
"I regret this deeply because, as a player, he has what it takes to be a great. Now, if the market is interesting, we will study the offers, so if there is a good option, yes, but he won't leave at any price."
