Celtic look set to smash their transfer record with the capture of Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal for £9m.
Manager Brendan Rodgers rates the 20-year-old as one of the finest young talents he has ever coached and is desperate to make the Paris St Germain loanee a full-time Celtic player.
Sky Sports News understands Edouard's representatives travelled from Paris to London on Thursday lunchtime, hoping to conclude a deal before Saturday's 'exclusive' negotiating window expires.
Several other clubs, including Lyon and Rennes are understood to be waiting in the wings if Celtic fail to conclude an agreement before Saturday's deadline for agreement with PSG.
Sources in France have told Sky Sports News that Celtic had the chance to sign Edouard last October for around half the price they will pay this summer, but a deal could not be agreed.
The £9m deal for the striker who has represented France at U17, U18 and U19 level, will dwarf the previous record of £6m paid for John Hartson in 2001.
