West Brom full-back Cristian Gamboa is having a medical at Celtic ahead of a proposed move, according to Sky sources.
Speaking in Glasgow, Gamboa told Sky Sports: "I cannot say anything now, so we wait and see.
"I hope [by] the end of the day we have something."
Gamboa has started just once for the club in a 1-0 win against Stoke in August 2015, and has appeared ten times off the bench.
And when he was asked about how big an opportunity a move to Celtic could be, he said: "It's big, it's really big" before adding "we hope, we hope, we hope" when asked if the deal was close to getting done.
The Costa Rica international began his career at Municipal Liberia where he made 68 appearances. In 2010, Gamboa moved to Fredrikstad before spells at Copenhagen and Rosenborg.
After an impressive 2014 World Cup showing in Brazil where Gamboa helped Costa Rica reach the quarter-finals, he joined West Brom for a fee of £2m.
The 26-year-old does not appear to be in Tony Pulis' plans this season and looks set to join Brendan Rodgers' side who are currently top of the Scottish Premiership and have reached the Champions League group stage.
Celtic have already made six signings during the transfer window, with Gamboa potentially about to become the club's seventh.
