Popular midfielder keen to return to Japan
Shunsuke Nakamura has admitted that he could be set to leave Celtic in the January transfer window.
The Japan international midfielder is under contract with the Scottish Premier League champions until the end of the season and Gordon Strachan's side have the option to extend that by a further year.
But Nakamura, who came off the bench in Saturday's 4-2 victory at Motherwell, is considering a return to his homeland for both personal and professional reasons.
He is planning to hold talks with Bhoys chief executive Peter Lawwell in a bid to resolve his situation, but revealed his agent has already sounded out a number of clubs in Japan.
Future
Nakamura said: "A move in January might be possible, I leave everything like that to my agent.
"If I was Scottish I would love to play at Celtic forever, but I'm Japanese and I also have a family and kids.
"I've also had to think about the national team as well and I'm finding it quite hard travelling back and forward all the time.
"When I take everything into consideration, it makes me think I might need to go back to Japan.
"My agent has already spoken to a few teams in Japan.
"But Peter hasn't said he doesn't need me yet so I honestly don't know what will happen.
"I have to sit down and talk to Peter about my future. I have a contract until the end of the season and the club has an option to extend my contract for another year."
