Celtic v Aberdeen preview: Derek McInnes eyeing famous final-day win
Sunday 13 May 2018 12:15, UK
Derek McInnes hopes that Aberdeen can get a result against Celtic in their final game of the campaign to clinch second place.
Aberdeen have destiny in their own hands as a win at Celtic Park will guarantee them the runners-up spot, however, champions Celtic have only lost three games this season.
Rangers are a point behind Aberdeen but face a tricky trip to fourth-place Hibernian.
"The league table doesn't lie, so it's still an opportunity for us," McInnes said.
"It will go to the last game and there's still going to be twists and turns and a bit of drama, but the fact is we're in the mix going into the last game.
"It's fascinating stuff. It is exciting."
The champions will be presented with their Premiership trophy after the game against the Dons in what is sure to be a sellout Celtic Park before they start preparing for the showpiece finale against Motherwell at Hampden Park, as they look to complete an unprecedented successive treble.
Team news
Leigh Griffiths returns to the Celtic squad for the Ladbrokes Premiership clash.
The Hoops striker has recovered from illness but Odsonne Edouard is out with a hamstring injury, as is number one goalkeeper Craig Gordon with a knee complaint while Nir Bitton (knee) and Jonny Hayes (broken leg) are still out.
Aberdeen will have to take on Celtic without Scott McKenna, Ryan Christie and Niall McGinn.
Defender McKenna is suspended for the Parkhead trip, while loan star Christie is prohibited from facing his parent club.
Forward McGinn is also ruled out with a groin strain, while January signing Michael Devlin is still working his way back from a long-term injury.
