Hearts have made contact with Norwich over the availability of Steven Naismith and are thought to be close to matching the valuation of the midfielder, say Sky sources.
The boss of the Edinburgh club Craig Levein is a huge admirer of the Scotland international, who became Norwich's record signing in 2016 when he arrived at Carrow Road from Everton for £8.5m.
Naismith is one of Norwich's highest earners but is not in the plans of manager Daniel Farke and has found first-team opportunities limited so far this term, failing to score in three appearances.
Rangers are also thought to be considering a move for the player, who left Ibrox in controversial circumstances in 2012 after refusing to sign a contract transfer when the club went into administration.
Reports in the Scottish press claim Naismith has told his former club that he will play for free until the end of the season in a bid to earn a return to Glasgow.
The 31-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Norwich, has also been linked with his first club Kilmarnock by Scottish media.
