Wrexham defender Ryan Valentine has revealed he was shocked to get the nod from Wales coach John Toshack. The former Everton stopper joined the Welsh outfit from Darlington this summer and has only made six League Two appearances for his new club.
However, Toshack is looking to the future regarding Wales and Valentine could now feature for his country in their upcoming Euro 2008 qualifier against Czech Republic.
"I am shocked, but delighted," revealed Valentine.
"When I came back to Wrexham it was at the back of my mind that I could put myself in the frame for Wales considering that John Toshack is looking for younger players.
"But to get a call-up after just six games for Wrexham is a very pleasant surprise."
