Long-serving keeper Brian Jensen has decided to stay at Burnley after withdrawing his transfer request.

Howe wants keeper to fight for first-team spot

Long-serving goalkeeper Brian Jensen has decided to stay at Burnley after withdrawing his transfer request. Jensen has not featured for the Clarets since October after losing his place to Lee Grant and asked to leave the club before Christmas. However, following talks with new Burnley manager Eddie Howe, the 35-year-old is now ready to fight for his spot at Turf Moor. "We have had a good chat with Brian and talked about a lot of things," Howe told the club's official website.

Frustrated

"Brian is frustrated because he wants to play but his attitude is that he is going to get his head down, really knuckle down in training and try and earn his place back. "He is focused now on Burnley and, for the short term at least, Brian will stay. "You want everybody singing from the same sheet. Brian is a great pro, a very good goalkeeper and we are delighted to have him with us. We just need him and Granty to fight for that No.1 shirt." The veteran Dane joined Burnley from West Bromwich Albion in 2003 and he is approaching 300 appearances for the club.
