Davey delighted to bring in Chandler and Werling
Darlington manager Simon Davey has begun rebuilding by swooping for Jamie Chandler and Dominik Werling.
Chandler, 21, played 14 games on loan with the Quakers during a four-month loan spell in the first half of this season before returning to Sunderland. He is free agent in the summer and will join on 1st July on a two-year deal.
Werling, from Ludwigshafen in Germany, last played for Huddersfield after a previous spell with Davey at Barnsley.
The 27-year-old had also played for Sakaryaspor and TSV Crailsheim, FC Union Berlin and Bielefeld II in his homeland.
Davey is pleased with the double capture as he plots an immediate return to League Two following this season's relegation.
"I'm absolutely delighted to get Jamie and Dominik on board for next season," said Davey.
"I've heard a lot of good reports about Jamie from his spell with the club earlier in the season and I've also watched DVDs and been to see him play for Sunderland's reserves.
Character
"He's just the type of player and character we want at this football club. He's hungry to succeed and as soon as we spoke to him he made it clear he was desperate to come back to the club which was a great sign.
"I signed Dominik on loan from Turkish club Sakaryaspor in the summer of 2007 and he spent half a season with us at Barnsley.
"He's a left-sided player and can play as a left-back, a left wing-back or left midfield so he offers us plenty of options down that side.
"He's very powerful, quick and has a fantastic left foot and he'll add some balance to the side. He also chips in with the odd spectacular goal!
"He'll offer us some valuable experience having played at a top level so he'll be another quality addition for us."
