Exeter City midfielder Jimmy Keohane has agreed a new one-year contract at St James' Park.

The 21-year-old made his debut in last August's Carling Cup defeat to Liverpool and went on to play six times during the season. Grecians boss Paul Tisdale has been impressed by Keohane's development, suggesting a more prominent role as he looks to plot an immediate route back to League One. "Jimmy is a player who developed very strongly after Christmas and he is a player who is in a bracket where I'm hoping for rapid development," said Tisdale on his club's official website. "I'm pleased he's re-signed. "He played in the early parts of the season, away at Charlton and against Liverpool and Notts County at home - games where there was an opportunity with strikers out and he could play that role as a runner from midfield. "We have to get the balance of the squad right. It's not just first-team players, it's also about squad players and young players - future players who can become first-team players. He was more than happy to continue his time with us because he is improving quickly."
