Shrewsbury v Barnet preview

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Shrewsbury and Barnet at Greenhous Meadow.

Shrewsbury have been handed a boost with the news Reuben Hazell's knee injury is not as bad as first feared. The defender visited a knee specialist on Wednesday to fully assess the damage sustained in the 2-0 League Two victory over Torquay just under two weeks ago. A scan highlighted a torn cruciate but the initial diagnosis is that Hazell will not require surgery, meaning around four months on the sidelines should this be the case as he undergoes intensive rehabilitation. It was originally feared the 32-year-old could be missing for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Shrews have also been boosted by the return to training of fellow defender Carl Regan on Thursday morning following a long-term calf injury. Danny Senda could return for Barnet's trip but boss Lawrie Sanchez still has problems in defence. Right-back Senda is hoping to be fit after a fortnight out with a hamstring injury, but left-back Jordan Parkes and centre-half Darren Dennehy are doubts. Parkes missed Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Gillingham with an ankle injury and Dennehy was a late withdrawal due to a chest infection. Sanchez could recall striker Steve Kabba, who was rested in midweek, and also has a goalkeeping dilemma after Liam O'Brien got a rare chance ahead of regular number one Dean Brill and impressed with a string of fine saves. Forward Ricky Holmes remains on the sidelines after he suffered concussion during last weekend's 2-1 defeat by Northampton.
