Two goals from midfielder Asa Hall gave Oxford United a comfortable 3-0 victory over Morecambe in League Two.
Hall opened the scoring just before the half hour at the Globe Arena on Saturday when he finished from close range after Paul McLaren's free-kick found him unmarked at the far post. Seven minutes later the visitors extended their lead with McLaren again involved from another free-kick as the ball was played short on the edge of the area and McLaren curled a superb effort past Barry Roche's left hand. Morecambe's hopes of a comeback were killed off 20 minutes into the second half when Hall scored his second. Oxford produced a quick counter attack and after his first shot was beaten down Hall took advantage of the space afforded to him by sliding the ball into the bottom left-hand corner from the edge of the area. Morecambe had the chance of a consolation when Laurence Wilson had a penalty with 19 minutes to go but his effort was well saved by Ryan Clarke.
