Brentford defender Rico Henry will be out for a long period after suffering  a serious knee injury that requires surgery.

Henry was stretchered from the field after suffering the injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough, and will now undergo reconstructive surgery on his right knee.

Brentford's Head of Medical Neil Greig said: "No timescales have been put on his return.

"Surgery will take place over the coming two to three weeks once the knee is sufficiently recovered from the initial trauma, in order to allow the best environment for full recovery.
