Everton striker Leandro Rodriguez will join Brentford on a month's loan, according to Sky sources.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan joined Everton from River Plate last summer but has made just one appearance as a substitute against Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup.

Rodriguez is expected to train with the Bees on Thursday and will be available for their next game at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Brentford have been in need of a striker following the poor form of Philipp Hofmann, Marco Djuricin and Lasse Vibe, while Scott Hogan continues to recover from a long-term injury.

Of the aforementioned trio, only Germany U21 Hofmann has scored this year and head coach Dean Smith played without a recognised striker in last weekend's defeat to QPR.

He said: "Lasse and Marco know they've not been playing to the best of their abilities. We are looking in the market for loan signings and I'm hoping we'll definitely get one in this week."

They are set to sign Rodriguez and, unless the loan is renewed, he will return to Goodison Park following the Bees' clash with Bristol City on April 16.
