Macclesfield v Rotherham preview

Image: Chalmers: Set to return for Macc

Team news ahead of Boxing Day's League Two clash between Macclesfield Town and Rotherham United at Moss Rose.

Macclesfield will be boosted by the return of Lewis Chalmers. Chalmers has not played since the Silkmen's 3-0 FA Cup first-round victory over East Thurrock on November 12 due to a stomach problem. However, he is set to return when the Millers come to town, telling the club's official website: "I have been out for a while so I can't wait to get back." Elliot Hewitt continues to step up his rehabilitation from a groin injury but Monday's clash looks set to come too soon. John Grant (calf), Greg Daniel (knee), Ben Tomlinson (ankle) and Scott Kay (thigh) remain sidelined. Macc have not won in their last six League Two encounters, of which they have lost four. Rotherham manager Andy Scott could pick an unchanged line-up. The Millers beat AFC Wimbledon at Don Valley last week to extend their recent run of form and Scott looks set to keep faith with the same players. On-loan defender Guy Branston could be involved again, though, after missing the last two games with a foot injury as he has stepped up his training this week but Scott may choose not to disrupt the defensive pairing of Johnny Mullins and Michael Raynes. Luke Foster underwent surgery on a cruciate ligament injury on Wednesday to repair the problem that will keep him out for the rest of the season. Ryan Cresswell, Gareth Evans (both ankle) and Mark Bradley (shoulder) continue to miss out but are targeting returns in the new year. The game at Moss Ross will be the Millers' first outing on December 26 since 2008 after recent winters have curtailed their festive programme.
