Fulham held by Halmstads; Stoke involved in stalemate
Fulham continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 draw against Halmstads, while Stoke were held by Notts County.
Caretaker
Fulham manager Ray Lewington selected a strong side including eight of the players that started the Europa League final, and Fulham began brightly as Zoltan Gera headed home Simon Davies' cross in the eighth minute.
However, Swedish side Halmstads then turned the game in their favour midway through the first half as Joe Sise scored twice past goalkeeper David Stockdale in the space of a couple of minutes.
It was left to Gera to salvage a draw with his second of the night just before the hour mark, after being teed up by Damien Duff.
Stoke did not even manage to get on the scoresheet as they played out a goalless draw with League One newcomers
Notts County at Meadow Lane.
James Beattie was one of the more impressive performers for the Potters in
Nottingham, but could not manage to break the deadlock.
Stoke had a second team in action against non-league side Nantwich, made up mostly of younger players, and the Potters ran out 2-1 winners.
18-year-old striker Louis Moult scored both goals for Stoke in the first half, slotting in his first from 15 yards and the second a delicate finish from close range from a Ben Marshall cross.
The game ended on a high for Nantwich at the Weaver Stadium as Jake Sedgemore curled in a 35-yard free-kick.
Blackpool beat
Kilmarnock on penalties in the South West Challenge Cup following a 2-2 draw at full-time.
Jason Euell fired Ian Holloway's men ahead, only for Jamie Hamill to equalise with a spot-kick.
Lewis Almond restored Blackpool's lead but Kilmarnock again drew level, this time thanks to Craig Bryson.
Dagenham & Redbridge warmed up for their League One campaign with a 1-0 victory over Championship outfit
Norwich.
Hereford were also in fine form as they swept aside Lydbrook 7-0, while a
Port Vale XI edged out Mervue United 1-0
