Asamoah earns Carlisle win

Derek Asamoah grabbed his second goal in two games to earn Carlisle a dramatic late 2-1 win at Oxford.
Derek Hylton fired the U's in front just before the break with his 11th goal of the season, but Mark Beck equalised with a header before substitute Asamoah struck in the 90th minute. Carlisle's on loan Bolton striker George Iliev had two of his side's best first half chances, firing straight at goalkeeper Ryan Clarke after cutting in from the left, then volleying over from 12 yards when Mark Beck nodded Kyle Dempsey's probing free kick back across goal. Beck himself might have done better when failing to direct his header on target from a Danny Grainger cross, but it was Oxford's Joe Riley who wasted a clear opening after being put in the clear by Andy Whing's pass only to get his feet in a tangle and drag the ball out harmlessly for a goal kick. Oxford made the breakthrough on the stroke of half time when Danny Rose fed the ball through for Hylton to apply a composed right foot finish which Dan Hanford got a hand to but could not keep out. Carlisle lacked rhythm, but had a definite edge in terms of possession and got their reward in the 73rd minute when Potts whipped in a centre from the left and Beck was perfectly positioned six yards out to thump home a header. Oxford looked to have held on until Dempsey swung in a corner from the left and Asamoah got the vital final touch in a crowed six yard box.
